Below are common questions about coaching (Medical Nutrition Therapy).
Will my insurance cover a dietitian visit? Healthy Feat RDN is credentialed with the following insurances:
- Medicare*, BCBS, Presbyterian, United Healthcare
-
Please note: * Medicare will only cover dietitian services for Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease (GFR 15-55).
- I cover Turquoise Care under BCBS, Presbyterian, and United Healthcare.
Do I have a co-pay?
- It depends on the plan. This may be written on the front of your insurance card. Dietitians are considered specialists. If you are not sure, call the number on the back of your insurance card to inquire.
- Medicare does not have a co-pay.
How long are consultations?
- Initial consultations are typically 60-90 minutes
- Follow-up can vary, but typically these are 30-45 minutes.
Can my family or other supportive persons come with me?
- If you’d like them to come, of course! This is really up to you. Some clients choose to keep their health journey private. Others would prefer support. If someone else is doing the cooking or shopping it can be particularly helpful for them to learn, ask questions, voice concerns, offer support. It's great to have someone on the same page and on your team.
What should I bring to the visit?
- Bring your insurance cards and ID (usually a driver’s license).
- [Optional] It’s helpful to bring your latest lab results and medication list. Providers can fax these as well. You may need to ask.
